Year 8 began the year with an enriching and memorable HSIE Main Lesson on Connection to Country, guided by teachers Jacob and Hannah. The journey was launched with a Gunyah ceremony at sunrise, led by Mudjai. This powerful and moving experience invited students into a deeper understanding of what it means to be truly connected to Country.
Throughout this Main Lesson, students were encouraged to reflect personally on their learning, supported with resources and discussions. As a testament to their engagement, two students volunteered to share their personal Acknowledgements of Country at our end-of-term High School Assembly — a proud and reflective moment for our School community.
In Year 12 Business Studies, students explored the marketing strategies of a major corporation, Movie World. The experience featured an engaging and relevant educational presentation, followed by a fun-filled day of hands-on activities — blending learning with fun in a memorable way.
Meanwhile, our Year 11 Legal Studies students took part in a mock trial at Southern Cross University. This immersive experience was preceded by a visit to the local court, where students observed court operations and protocols in action. These opportunities gave students a deeper, real-world understanding of the Australian legal system and its processes.
Year 12 Society and Culture students travelled to Krishna Farm in Murwillumbah as part of their unit of study, Belief Systems in the Modern World. They spent a day understanding how Hinduism is being lived in this community and were able to participate in meditation; instruction in mantra and the sacred Hindu text the Bhagavad Gita; feeding the sacred cows and sharing in a delicious vegetarian lunch.
