Volleyball
Our High School undercover ball court is the place to be at lunchtime, with balls and limbs flying as our keen basketball and volleyball players get in on the action. It’s been a great term for volleyball, with a match day at Cape Byron Steiner School, and friendly comp at Spring Fair.
Three teams competed against Cape Byron last week in a day filled with strong performances and great sportsmanship. According to PDHPE Teacher Thomas O’Brien, the Year 9 girls displayed impressive skills and teamwork, but despite their best efforts, they narrowly lost 2-1 in sets. “Their enthusiasm and cohesion on the court were a joy to watch,” said Tom. “The Year 9 boys also played some outstanding volleyball, taking on an older and taller team. With high energy and excellent communication, they secured a well-deserved 3-1 victory. And the Year 8 to 10 mixed team fought hard and worked together exceptionally well. While the result didn’t go their way, their performance was commendable and full of effort.”
The Spring Fair comp saw the following four mixed-age teams enjoying the action: In first place was Team A (Liminal, Silas, Pippy, Angus, Gilly and Djali. In second place was Team C (Felix, Jesse, Mali, Tane and Banjo). In third place was Team D (Noah, Will, Finley, Milo, Olly and Lev). And coming in fourth was Team B (Hunter, Leo, Jasper, Manu, Lukas, Heaton and Ruben).
