Farewell Year 12!
Dear Year 12,
Remember that you are capable of achieving anything you set your mind to as you depart Shearwater and embark on these next steps into adulthood. With the lessons and values you’ve learned here, face each challenge with the same spirit you’ve shown us. It is important to remember that you have a vast community of individuals who are eager to celebrate your accomplishments and provide support for every new endeavour. We will be thinking of you all.
With love and kindness,
Rhys and Lindel
Year 12 Guardians
How lucky we are.
Days spent humming verses with crossed arms,
Standing in circles that still now find our feet; becoming simply muscle memory
Conflicts strung on like the scarves we knitted
Whispering words that morph and intertwine, into a daisy-chain of secrets still dried in my mind
And then, sucked into a world of chaos.
Fumbling to attain balance
Reaching for the puzzle pieces that will slowly form our identities,
Making our way into the eye of the storm
Each year we watch as a rainbow flows across the bridge.
And think to ourselves
‘They don’t yet know how lucky they are’.
