On June 18, the Shearwater Chess Club travelled to Alstonville for the NSW Northern Rivers Chess Tournament, organised by Gardiner Chess. The event saw a fantastic turnout with 140 students from both primary and high schools across the region.

In the High School division, Harrison showcased his skills and finished in the top 10. In the Primary B division, Ori won a gold medal, Annalise secured silver, Raphael took bronze, and Aratz received a merit award, leading Shearwater to first place as a team. In the Primary A division, Ryun, Jonah, and Lev earned silver medals, with Shearwater also securing first place in the team category on a tiebreak. Congratulations to all our students for their remarkable performances and the outstanding results from Shearwater.
