Mountain Bike Camp

Our inaugural MTB camp saw 10 students from across the High School taking part in the Rocky Trail Academy NCIS Schools Championships at Woolgoolga, with some great results and fun! We are super stoked for the riders, teachers and parents who supported the program and are looking forward to making it happen again.

On the first day, the team arrived at Wedding Bells MTB park and had two preparatory sessions where we rode the lines scheduled for the day ahead. As a group, we would ride down to a feature, stop, analyse, discuss and then ride on, covering 25km of riding and 2.5hrs of ride time within a 4hr period. A storm rolled through just before we started our second session for the day, but didn’t dampen the spirits of the team.

At the event itself, we had great success with all students completing the three courses, Dirt Serpent, Dammit with a short part of Blind Collab, and Westies. A few falls, minor cuts and abrasions, broken chains, basic mechanicals and total stoke factor raised! Having ridden the day before made a big difference to the confidence and ability of the students to know what was ahead.

Big ups to Giacomo who took on a mentor and informal team captain role and came in sixth overall in the event! All of the students helped pack the bus and trailer and got involved in camp management, always relating to each other in a positive way. Go team!

Here are the rider results.
