ShearTheatrix

Every year, Shearwater’s ShearTheatrix drama troop perform a crowd-pleasing play or musical.

This year ShearTheatrix staged an adaptation of the Coen Brothers’ Oscar nominated film “O Brother, where art thou?”, performed by Year 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 students.

The Shearwater students have rehearsed all year and prepared the posters and marketing campaign to support the ticket-sales. The students designed sets for the multi media performance, rehearsed the songs and dances, and developed their characters and costumes.

O Brother where Art Thou? – Homer’s epic poem “The Odyssey” – is set in the deep south in the US during the 1930′s, is a play about three escaped convicts and their search for treasure ….. though perhaps the treasure they seek will not be the one they find…… !

ShearTheatrix performed this play at the Byron Bay Community Center, on Thursday June 23rd 12.30 & 7.30pm, Friday June 24th 12.30 & 7.30pm, Saturday June 25th  7.30pm

This production is the 7th in the history of ShearTheatrix. Former productions ( Monty Python’s Holy Grail, Grease, Corpses Bride, Oliver, The Wizard of Oz and The Popular Mechanicals) sold out in record time.
