Welcome to Shearwater the Mullumbimby Steiner School

Our school is nestled among the green hills of the Byron Shire hinterland, 3.5 km from ‘the biggest little town in Australia‘: Mullumbimby, New South Wales. It is situated in Arakwal Country, a part of the Bundjalung Nation, and we pay our respects to the traditional custodial owners, both past and present, as well as to the elemental and spiritual beings that cohabit this place.

I place myself steadfastly into existence.

With certainty I tread the path of life.

Love I cherish in the core of my being,

Hope I place in all my doing,

Confidence in my thinking.

These Five give me strength.

Rudolf Steiner

Winter Festival will be held on Friday 21 June.

This is a Pupil Free Day, and students are to arrive at school by 4:30. The Festival begins with a Lantern Parade at 5:15 and finishes with supper in the Classrooms at approximately 6:45.

Remember to dress warmly, and bring something to sit on! The Festival will be held in the Big Amphitheatre, unless it rains, in which case it will relocate to the School Hall.

WHY STEINER EDUCATION WORKS

The Gift of Learning

The Steiner Waldorf Schools Fellowship commissioned ITN to make this short film to look at some of the key features of a Steiner School including:
- how Steiner Schools nurture spiritual development in keeping with the cultural setting of the school and without being tied to a particular faith;
- the emphasis on doing to complement academic learning;
- how the absence of testing in the younger years nurtures enthusiasm for learning;
- the importance of quietness and contemplation as part of the school day.
